About company

Closed Joint-Stock Company “National Carbon Sequestration Foundation” (NCSF) was registered on September 12, 2008 as a result of restructuring of Not-for-Profit Partnership “National Carbon Sequestration Foundation” established in November 2001.

At the beginning primary activities of the company were focused at climate change, UNFCCC and Kyoto Protocol capacity building, lobbying ratification of the Kyoto Protocol to the UNFCCC in Russia.

After Russia took historic ratification decision and the Kyoto Protocol entered into force in February 2005, the focus of the Company’s activities has shifted to providing complete range of consultancy services to Russian and foreign companies and governmental authorities regarding the implementation of the Kyoto Protocol and exploring the opportunities provided by the “flexible mechanisms” of this international agreement.

Today our primary mission is to design and develop Russian carbon trading system and facilitate its smooth and comprehensive integration with international carbon markets.

Goals and objectives of the company:

  • Building carbon trading capacity in Russia;
  • Facilitation of the fulfillment of the Russian national commitments under the UNFCCC and the Kyoto Protocol;
  • Active participation in the development of the federal and regional legislation required for implementation of the UNFCCC and Kyoto Protocol provisions;
  • Attracting additional financial resources to Russian GHG emissions reduction projects and maximization of Russian carbon credits value.
